Cozumel: A Mexican Island In The Caribbean

Cozumel is not only a tropical paradise on Earth, it’s also Mexico’s largest island with 28 miles long and 10 miles wide. Located just 12 miles off the Yucatan Peninsula coastline, most of its visitors arrive via the comfortable ferries that depart from Playa del Carmen.

This beautiful island was pretty much cut off from civilization until the sixties, when famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau pinpointed it as one of the most amazing places in the world for the practice of scuba diving. Home to the largest coral reef in the Americas, the Meso-American Reef, it offers a magnificent spectacle to divers due to its incredible biodiversity that includes over 250 species of tropical fish and marine turtles.

Cruise lines in Cozumel

Once a refugee for pirates, today is a must-see kind of place for the different cruise lines sailing all around the Caribbean Sea. Tourists focus on its spectacular natural beauty visiting places like the Chankanaab National Park or Punta Sur Natural Reserve. Some prefer to go a bit deeper and get on the Atlantis Submarine for an unforgettable trip under the sea.

The advanced Mayan civilization used Cozumel as a commercial port and a ceremonial center dedicated to fertility godess Ixchel. To get a glimpse of the rich Mayan culture you can visit the San Gervasio archaeological site, or the oldest Mayan building in the zone at El Cedral.

The perfect the region climate all year long offers a wide range of possibilities to visit Cozumel, but if you want to make the most of it and feel the real Cozumel, you should try coming during the Carnival festivities in February or maybe try the El Cedral celebrations in May. That’s when the party really gets going in San Miguel, the small town where the residents of this paradise-like island live.

There are many other attractions a things to do in Cozumel, we haven’t talked yet about the Celerain Lighthouse located at Punta Sur, a place of unparallelled beauty and exuberant fauna. The Cozumel Island Museum is another option that offers a window into the history of the island and its turbulent past where Mayans, Spanish explorers and British pirates blend into a cultural kaleidoscope that provides the background to what Cozumel is today.

A destination like no other in Mexico, Cozumel is one of a kind. Discover it by yourself and enjoy the experience of your life!

I’ve been using Hoteles Acapulco web page for long time. I’ve checked it a few times against other pages and here it always gave me the best deal without any hidden costs that pop out in the last moment. Frankly speaking I haven’t tried to book a car with Hoteles Acapulco, I didn’t need to, but I have booked two different hotels and once a hotel and flight package. The three times I used the web page I was very satisfied. It is easy to follow, I’m not an internet geek and I didn’t have any problems with the booking and the whole booking process was pretty fast. Once I wanted to stay at Acapulco Playa Suites that I had already known but instead I chose a promotion they offered at that time at Acapulco Copacabana Hotel and I paid almost the same. I have already recommended their services to my friends and they were also happy with their vacation.
